What to Wear!!

A dress code ensures that a teacher will be able to see a dancer’s alignment and positioning. The teacher needs to be able to see a dancer's mistakes. Baggy clothing and shoes that are too big can mask bad habits, making corrections impossible. Plus when the dancers in a class are all dressed alike, it is easier for the teacher to see the moves without distractions.  Hair that is worn down prevents a dancer from spotting properly and causes distractions for the dancer. Safety also plays a part in determining what a dancer should wear.

All classes: No Jewelry. Hair up.

Age 3-7     COMBO CLASSES OF BALLET & TAP

Any color leotard, Sheer skirts permitted

plain pink or white tights ( no nylons or cable stitch)

Pink all leather Ballet slippers...must be completely flexible and with a full sole.

JAZZ OR TAP (age 8-10)

 Black leotard, Bloch Adaptatoe light tan tights,  Bloch tan Jazz shoes.

Capezio Black Mary Jane Tap shoes #3800.

Age 11 +

BALLET: Bloch pink tights and Capezio split sole Ballet slippers with sewn on elastic. The elastic is required! A cotton/lycra fitted leotard with spaghetti or tank straps...in black, maroon, navy, or hunter green.

JAZZ/HIP HOP:  Black leotard with tan convertible tights. OR Lycra dance shorts & lycra camisole with tan convertible tights. Bloch brand tan Jazz shoes.

TAP SHOES:   Bloch full sole tie Tap shoes. Outfit same as Jazz.

HAIR must be up in braids or bun for all classes. Short hair must be pinned back away from the face with barrettes or a headband, or put into a ponytail. No pony tails for longer hair as this prevents proper technique during turns. Ballet classes require a bun with elastics and bobby pins...no Scrunchies.

NO JEWELRY. NO DANGLE EARRINGS. (small studs may be worn, but can cause injury if bumped into. Wear at your own risk) NO BRACELETS OR ELASTICS ON THE WRISTS.
